Insulation is made with 35% recycled materials, offering greatly reduced impact on the environment
Storm Creek has fully-integrated Thermolite® T3 EcoMade Insulation into its core line of jackets and vests. Made with at least 35% recycled fiber, comprised primarily of plastic bottles, this insulation provides superior lightweight warmth to cold weather outerwear which the Company specializes in.
Since Storm Creek began integrating the insulation into its line this year, it has recycled more than 322,000 plastic bottles and counting.
“Customers want outerwear that offers the latest technologies to help them stay warm, dry and comfortable longer, but they’re also looking for products made with sustainable materials,” said Doug Jackson, Storm Creek President. “Our commitment to creating environmentally responsible apparel in our outerwear segment continues to grow and we’re very excited to partner with our suppliers to make this product available in our jacket and vest collections.”
Introduced by INVISTA, a large producer of fibers, in January 2108, the THERMOLITE® T3 EcoMade Insulation provides wearers added comfort because of its compression and recovery ability. The high level of water resistance keeps people dry and comfortable, even in demanding conditions, perfect for the Storm Creek brand.
In addition, EcoMade Technology offers improved wash durability, which translates into longer garment life and lowers environmental impact through fewer washes, replacements, and less trash.
“Every day in the US, more than 60 million plastic bottles are thrown away. Each year, nearly 13 million tons of plastic waste from around the world end up in our oceans – those are staggering statistics,” Jackson said. “However, by choosing sustainable products such as the EcoMade Insulation, our company alone can save nearly 500,000 plastic bottles per year from being discarded. This is just the beginning of future initiatives by our company to become more environmentally responsible.”
