Storm Creek doesn’t just make apparel, we’re on a mission to positively impact those around us. We’re changing lives by supporting causes that complement our apparel niche - inspiring those to get outdoors. Here are the five ways we’re supporting those in need.
1. Supporting front line workers of COVID-19
The WearForBetter campaign started as a conversation between Storm Creek CEO, Teresa Fudenberg, and two friends - all of which are women business owners. They challenged each other to find a better way to positively impact people on the front lines of COVID-19. The Buy One, Give One "Wear for Better" pullover was born. People wanting to support front-line heroes in their life can purchase one and send one for free to their hero. Each pullover includes a logo representing various essential occupations. So far, Storm Creek has delivered over 450 pullovers with personalized gift notes around the country.
2. Raising funds for charities
Storm Creek has partnered with numerous organizations, such as Special Olympics, Save The Boundary Waters, the American Red Cross, and Feeding America to help raise funds for causes we're passionate about through the development and sale of custom apparel. The company has sponsored several events for Special Olympics, including the Polar Plunge and the Summer Olympics. In fact, through a partnership with KARE-11, Storm Creek raised over $15,000 for Special Olympics by offering custom "Embrace the Cold" winter hats and gear. As part of Storm Creek's efforts to preserve wild-life recreation areas and protect the environment, it partnered with Save the Boundary Waters (STBW) to offer special edition Storm Creek Sweaterfleece Jackets branded with the STBW logo. A portion from each pullover sold is donated to STBW. More recently, in response to the coronavirus pandemic, Storm Creek curated a collection of styles perfect for working from home. 20% of sales from the collection goes to Feeding America's COVID-19 Response Fund.
3. Local marathons
Each year, Storm Creek sponsors local marathons produced by Twin Cities in Motion by providing custom race gear and special promotions for race participants. We believe in the TCM mission of "igniting everyone's inner athlete, providing the best in class experience events for everyone regardless of ability, age, or background." As a charity partner, the Friends of TCM raises funds to support healthy youth through the Storm Creek Warehouse Sale.
4. Annual warehouse sale
The Storm Creek Warehouse Sale began over seven years ago with the original intention of collecting food for a local food shelf. Since then, the sale has expanded to include over 30 different charity partners. Each charity partner promotes the warehouse sale by distributing coupons with their charity logo. Each coupon gets shoppers $10 off a purchase of $50 or more and 10% of their total purchase goes right back to the charity of their choice. Over $40,000 was raised for various charities like American Red Cross, Secondhand Hounds, Feed my Starving Children, and more.
5. 1% for the Planet
Storm Creek has always pushed for sustainable clothing options. Fall of 2019, Storm Creek joined 1% for the Planet. Through our 1% for the Planet membership, we take responsibility for the Earth by supporting organizations that do the important work to create positive environmental change. 1% of every purchase of our Eco-Collection goes to this worthy endeavor. Additionally, by 2021 every Storm Creek item will have a recycled component.
